Let me tell you about a friend of mine. His name is Peter Kagayi. He prefers to be addressed as Kagayi Mutanga. Along the way he lost interest in the Christian name for reasons best known to him. But that is not the reason I am writing this.
This blog is about Kagayi and his works. He has taken a step that I have not taken and not soon to take in the near future. Kagayi is now a published poet.
Did I tell you that Kagayi is a poet? Now you know! His relationship with poetry is one he has walked for quite a while. In fact I met Kagayi in these “poetry things”, if I may say. That was somewhere at the Femrite during the readers and writers club. The year was 2012.
Years down the road, Kagayi has put together all his poetry collection and got it published by Nyana Kakoma’s soomanystories.com. This is the first book to be published by this company. But anyway what do you expect when Nyana and Kagayi put their brains together? Only good work happens. So Kagayi Mutanga will be availing his book to the public on 8th June 2016 at the Main Auditorium, National Theatre. But that will not be the only activity that evening.
On that day, he will also do something else. It’s not proposing to a lady, that is his business. He will do what many of you know of Kagayi. Performance!
So make a date with that date to be around. Come armed with UGX 20,000 to buy yourself an autographed copy of The Headline That Morning. There will also be a CD on sale at the same price. Come and we celebrate Kagayi.
Thanks Kangye.
